BE WATER, MY FRIEND
Chapman Dodge Advanced Production
Every semester at Chapman University’s Dodge college third-year students across different majors and areas of specialization collaborate on an 8-minute Advanced Production (AP) short film (basically a smaller-scale thesis). Spring of 2023 saw a total of 24 APs, including Be Water, My Friend. The film is a satire that follows Zhiyi, a first-generation Chinese immigrant struggling to find his way in America. I absolutely loved producing Be Water, which we brought from script to screen in 3 months with a crew of 34.
